As a German theatre-technical professional association, the DTHG had to play a more active role in the international association of various organisations and societies, since no other country in the world has such a high density and number of theatres. Germans“ were also expected to provide particularly safe and technically sophisticated solutions to various technical problems. To perform this comprehensively was neither possible for the DTHG in terms of personnel nor financially. In this respect, it was necessary to set priorities among the possible projects and tasks in 2012 in order to do at least the most important thing. The support of the world association OISTAT must be seen as such. The DTHG office continued to take over the tasks as the German centre of OISTAT. In 2012, the board of the DTHG had repeatedly dealt with assessing the benefits the support of the world association could bring for the members. First of all, those commissions were selected in which this connection can be successfully achieved, both in terms of personnel and subject matter. Andreas Bickel was delegated to the Technical Commission and Dr. Gabriele Högg temporarily took over the work in the International Education Commission. Reinhold Daberto also works in the Architecture Commission, Prof. Tina Kitzing in the Scenography Commission and Karin Winkelsesser in the Publications Commission. – All other commissions could not be filled by German delegates in 2012. In 2012, the DTHG also supported the exchange programme of German and French trainees financially with a grant of 2,200 €. An integral part of the international work is the exchange and mutual visit with the partner organisations VPT (Netherlands), STEPP (Belgium). New contacts were established in 2012 with the USITT (United States Institute of Theatre Technology) and the Russian TDM (International Foundation for Promotion of Stage Technologies Development). The professional exchange with associations from abroad made particular sense if these activities were supplemented by cooperation with national associations.
Die DTHG als deutscher theatertechnischer Berufsverband musste im internationalen Verbund verschiedenster Organisationen und Gesellschaften eine aktivere Rolle übernehmen, da kein anderes Land der Welt über eine so hohe Dichte und Anzahl von Theatern verfügt. Auch wurden von »den Deutschen« besonders sichere und ingenieurstechnisch ausgefeilte Lösungen für diverse technische Probleme erwartet. Dies umfassend zu leisten, war für die DTHG weder personell noch finanziell möglich. Insofern galt es, auch 2012 unter den möglichen Projekten und Aufgaben Schwerpunkte zu setzen, um wenigstens das Wichtigste zu tun.
Als solches muss die Unterstützung des Weltverbandes OISTAT angesehen werden. Die DTHG-Geschäftsstelle übernahm weiterhin die Aufgaben als deutsches Zentrum der OISTAT. Der Vorstand der DTHG hatte sich im Jahr 2012 damit wiederholt befasst, zu beurteilen, welchen Nutzen die Unterstützung des Weltverbandes für die Mitglieder erbringen kann. Dabei wurden zunächst jene Kommissionen ausgewählt, in denen sowohl personell als auch thematisch diese Verbindung erfolgreich erzielt werden kann. Andreas Bickel wurde in die Technik-Kommission delegiert und Dr. Gabriele Högg hatte kommissarisch die Arbeit in der internationalen Bildungskommission übernommen. Darüber hinaus arbeiten Reinhold Daberto in der Architekturkommission, Prof. Tina Kitzing in der Szenographie-Kommission und Karin Winkelsesser in der Publikationskommission. – Alle weiteren Kommissionen konnten 2012 nicht durch deutsche Delegierte besetzt werden.
Die DTHG unterstützte 2012 auch das Austauschprogramm deutscher und französischer Auszubildender finanziell mit einem Förderbetrag in Höhe von 2.200 €. Ein inzwischen fester Bestandteil der internationalen Arbeit ist der Austausch sowie gegenseitige Besuch mit den Partnerorganisationen VPT (Niederlande), STEPP (Belgien). Neue Kontakte wurden 2012 zum amerikanischen Verband USITT (United States Institute of Theatre Technology) und der russischen Stiftung TDM (International Foundation for Promotion of Stage Technologies Development) geknüpft. Der fachliche Austausch mit Verbänden aus dem Ausland erhielt insbesondere dann einen Sinn, wenn diese Aktivitäten durch die Kooperation mit nationalen Verbänden ergänzt wurden.
